Wildlife in Nepal

Royal Chitwan National Park-This is one of the largest sub-tropical national park in the Indian subcontinent. It is located south-west of Kathmandu, in the town of Chitwan. UNESCO has declared this

national park as a World Heritage site. It houses a wide variety of mammals and birds. The park can be reached by road, rail or air.

Sagarmatha National Park-The park is located in the Sagarmatha zone, north-east of Kathmandu. This national park was declared as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. It houses a number of endangered species like the red panda, wild yak, snow leopard, musk deer, and Himalayan black bear. A large number of birds and butterflies are also being found here. The ethnic community of Sherpas adds to the magnificence of this park. The park is accessible by air or bus.

Royal Bardia National Park-The Park is located in the western plains of Terai belt. It is famous as the biggest park in the Terai belt. The park was the agent hunting Rana kings of Nepal. This park can be reached by air or road. The national park is home to a wide variety of birds, and a large number of endangered species such as the Bengal tiger, the Ganges dolphin, male black, one-horned rhinoceros, and the Indian elephant, to name a few.

Kosi Tappu-It is located in the east of Nepal, and is home to a number of species of migratory birds. The reserve is located on the shores of the Sapta-Kosi River. The safari on the back of elephants is a favorite with tourists. The park is also famous for endangered species like the gharial crocodile, the Ganges dolphin and wild buffalo or Arnal.
