Major Rivers in Nepal

Volumes can be written on the major rivers in Nepal. Nepal is the closest to the World’s highest mountain range, the Himalayas. There are a significant number of major rivers in Nepal. The Terai belt is fed by three rivers Kosi, Karnali, and Narayani. Karnali happens to be the longest and largest river in Nepal. These rivers originate in the mountains, flow through Nepal, and ultimately flow into the Bay of Bengal.

There are also other major rivers like the Rapti, the SETI, Kali, Arun, the Trisuli, Bagmati, Mahakali, Anoma, and Bheri.

The rivers have made the Terai belt very fertile and suitable for cultivation, unlike the belt of mountains, hills and belt. This region is actually a northern extension of the Ganges basin. Agriculture is the main occupation of the area.
