Volumes
can be written on the
major rivers in Nepal.
Nepal is the closest
to the World’s
highest mountain range,
the Himalayas. There
are a significant number
of major rivers in Nepal.
The Terai belt is fed
by three rivers Kosi,
Karnali, and Narayani.
Karnali happens to be
the longest and largest
river in Nepal. These
rivers originate in
the mountains, flow
through Nepal, and ultimately
flow into the Bay of
Bengal.
There are also other
major rivers like
the Rapti, the SETI,
Kali, Arun, the Trisuli,
Bagmati, Mahakali,
Anoma, and Bheri.
The rivers have made
the Terai belt very
fertile and suitable
for cultivation, unlike
the belt of mountains,
hills and belt. This
region is actually
a northern extension
of the Ganges basin.
Agriculture is the
main occupation of
the area.
Being a country of
mountains and because
it has many rivers,
rafting adventure
is a very popular
sport in this country.
