Lumbini Birth Place of Buddha

Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha is a pilgrimage for Buddhist and a major tourist site in Nepal. Lumbini is also the World Heritage site by UNESCO, which gives greater importance. Lumbini is one of the main tourist attractions in Nepal. The district of Rupandehi in Nepal is where Lumbini is located. Gautama Buddha who was known as Siddhartha before enlightenment lived in Lumbini for 29 years of his life. He founded Buddhism which is followed by many throughout the world. It is due to religion that Lumbini was given such importance. Gautama Buddha was the crown prince and lived a life of luxury, but he later abandoned all material benefits in search of enlightenment and has traveled far from Lumbini.

Lumbini in Nepal has proved a visit to the great emperor Ashoka who have visited this holy place of Buddhism. The emperor Ashoka’s visit to Lumbini, people had built a stone pillar that chronicles his visit and the offers made by him. It is also mentioned in the accounts of Fa Hien who was the Chinese traveller who visited Lumbini-the birthplace of Buddha. Nepal has a population of mixed

religion, including Hindu and Buddhist majority. Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha has many monasteries. The site is used to build monasteries and no other structures such as hotels, restaurants, shops, houses are permitted. The place is very calm and soothing effect because it does not have the hustle and bustle, even if it is a tourist site.

Mayadevi Temple is the most sacred site because the exact spot where the Buddha was born lies inside. The monks, tourists, pilgrims come to make offerings and chant scripture to seek blessings.
